Acrobits Groundwire App Reviews

Almost really good

The app works really well. Ive used it for pure SIP calls and calls terminating in the PSTN. Call quality is good. Ive tried other apps, and Acrobits software is by far the best available if you want to actually -answer- calls while the app is in the background. That said? ZRTP encryption is turned off by default for inbound calls. Its a hell of a hunt to turn it on, too. This is inexcusable. Outbound ZRTP isnt available at all unless you shell out another $25. You know what? That just means Ill do it from another app--a free one, like Linphone. So the outbound price is just stupid greed--Id pay a couple of bucks for the convenience of including it, but for $25? It means nobody gets my money. The turned-off ZRTP for inbound calls, though, and the buried setting? What, only geeks deserve private calls? Its pretty lame.

Lacks iPad GUI and account sync

The basic functionality of this software is good, although some of the in-app purchase options seem to be a bit steep in the pricing. Still basically one of the best packages for the iPhone. What lacks is a decent iPad interface and the ability to sync the settings between multiple devices. Setting up a bunch of SIP accounts on multiple devices is a PITA, when it would seem not that hard to sync settings. Id give 3.5 stars if I could, plus one if the above mentioned functionality were added. If you have only one device which is an iPhone, then these things wont bother you. Addendum: Its been years since this app and the iPad are on the market, and this app is still not universal! Very annoying! They dont even have an iPad only version of Groundwire, which would be a joke anyway, because one would have to rebuy the codec licenses separately. Business-caliber apps should be universal by now, even Microsoft gets that. Deducting a star for the long wait.

1 or 5? => 3

One the one hand, it’s by far the most versatile and easy to use of the various SIP clients, especially for power users, for that I’d like to give it 5 stars. The nuisance with the extra in-App purchases (I know that’s largely an issue with additional licenses being required) is obnoxious, I’d rather pay more up-front and not have to worry about restoring purchases, etc. so for that I’d give it 3 stars. On the other hand, it’s inexcusable that this still isn’t either a universal app or that there is an iPad app version for this. I know, there’s an iPad version for their lower-end softphone, but I’m certainly not going to buy that, and then repurchase the thing if and when they finally decide to bring out Groundwire for the iPad, and for that I’d give them 1 star. Averaging things out, we end up with 3 stars. So for now, I’d suggest they publish their iPad app under two names, and then reward the early customers with free upgrades if/when they add additional features to the hypothetical version of Groundwire for iPad. Once I can get GroundWire for iPad, I’ll adjust my rating accordingly...

Excellent VoIP solution!

Intuitive interface, excellent call quality, very accessible with VoiceOver

App opens then crashes! *FIXED*

**UPDATE** Latest update fixed crashing problem. Updating from 1 star to 5 star.. Previous version ran perfect, new update crashes every time I open it. Crashed on previous version of iOS, updated to iOS 9.3 to see if that helped and no luck.

App keeps crashing

Ever since this update the app crashes every time I try to make a call and then when I receive a call is freezes up. Not good as my company relies on this app a lot of times!
